Thanksgiving Is Coming

November 7, 2008 | Filed Under Drinks, Life | No Comments

I really love Thanksgiving as a holiday because it is always a good time. My family always gets together for a really big and gut filling meal while having good conversations and usually we follow up the dinner with games and really great desserts.

My mom always makes really great desserts like the magic bars, pumpkin pie (which we all know is a basic staple of Thanksgiving), cheesecake, and some kind of other random fruit pie. There are so many different recipes that you can actually find online if you are lacking in the idea department that the dessert tray could be endless!

After all the eating is said and done it is time to do a little drinking. I do not like to go overboard while at my mom’s house when it comes to drinking, so I usually have a few vodka drinks (because they always have good vodka in the house) and get a nice toasty buzz going which just makes everything more funny.

What is your Thanksgiving tradition like? Post some comments!

The Pig Roast

My uncle’s pig roast / keg party was a pretty big success. I did not have my blue UV vodka like I wanted, but I did have Smirnoff vodka and that blue kool-aid type stuff that you can mix in with anything. That was my drink of choice that night. I ended up playing Texas Hold’em that night while in a trashed state and ended up getting 2nd place. How funny is that? I seen an old friend from high school there too so it turned out to be a really good time!

I saw some pictures on my Uncle’s MySpace page and I looked really blitzed! I know that it was a great time, but it is always funny to see pictures afterward just because I get to reminisce on the good times that were had. I do not feel inclined to show you these pictures, because they were really awful!! Let’s just say that you could tell that I was totally drunk!

Gigantic Party!

My uncle is having a really big pig roast out at his house tomorrow (Sunday) and it is going to be crazy. I seen him advertise it on MySpace and he was handing out fliers at work. We are going to stay the night at his house so that we can get trashed and not have to worry about finding a ride home.

I will be drinking basically one drink all night and here’s the recipe:

1 Shot of UV blue vodka
Lemonade
Ice

Mix it together in a short cup, how easy is that? It is really good stuff!

There are many different kinds of UV vodka available (as seen in the picture of course) that can be mixed with a multitude of things to make yummy drinks. I just prefer the blue with the lemonade because I have already had it a few times and loved it!!!

Feel free to leave me a comment on any drink recipes that you may have, especially if it includes UV!

Cherry Wine

I finally tried the wine that I bought a couple of weeks ago at the Farmer’s Market. I still do not like wine. I figured that maybe since it is made out of my favorite fruit I might actually like it, but I was wrong! The funny thing is too that the cork was really long and I ended up having to shove it into the bottle instead of pulling it out. Wine was not a good experience for me, and I won’t be drinking it again any time soon!

The company that made the wine is a really great company and I am sure that anyone who actually likes wine and appreciates the taste would love it too. I figured I would add that because I know that these companies put a lot of hard work into making really great wine. I am just not personally a wine lover, and I really can not drink even the finest most expensive wines.

Bonfires

August is a very popular month to have bonfires because the nights get a little chilly and it is great to get together with friends around a fire and drink the night away. It is always the best when you have some hot dogs to cook over the fire too, and of course the supplies to make s’mores. My friend calls these bonfires beer fires, because usually there is a lot of beer drinking!

I do not usually drink much beer unless it is something like Woodchuck which isn’t even technically beer. If I decide to have beer it is usually going to be Bud Ice because that is my favorite kind out of all of them. I have not had beer in a long time though because usually there is some drink that is more tempting no matter where I go!

Cherry Wine

I went to the farmer’s market downtown yesterday and they have a nice little wine shop in there. I picked up a bottle of cherry wine that is made here in Michigan. I don’t usually dig wine all that much, but I figured since it is cherry it may be a bit different. I haven’t opened it yet, but since it is Friday I might give it a shot tonight, and I’ll let you all know if it is any good or not!
